THE COPPER RIVER DELTA SHOREBIRD FESTIVAL & COVID-19

In order to keep our communities in Cordova, Alaska, and worldwide safe during coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreaks and consulting directives from the Center for Disease Control and Alaska Division of Public Health & Social Services, , the Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival planning committee has decided that the Shorebird Festival will not go on as planned May 7-10th.

We understand this is tough for everyone who was looking forward to enjoying this natural spectacle in beautiful Cordova, Alaska, but we all must do our part to control the spread of the virus.

The birds, however, are migrating north and will still be filling Hartney Bay, Alaganik Slough, and the surrounding Chugach National Forest, feeding and resting as they head to their breeding grounds. The festival goes online for 2020! Join us as we celebrate birds and community at www.coppershorebird.com.  There are videos and photo updates of the migration from the Copper River Delta, games, prizes, and other ways for you to bird locally in the Cordova Birding Challenge or wherever you are with eBird and iNaturalist!
