The Department of Transportation is preparing for their Triennial Exercise out at the Mudhole Smith airport Saturday, May 6th and we are looking for volunteers to play injured passengers!
All volunteers would be prepped at orientation at the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department 12PM on the day of the exercise and transported to the airport. Once on location they will be staged in areas that our local responders would likely approach them in the event of an actual crash. Responders would then assess scripted passenger injuries and transport them to the necessary medical facility.
Once volunteers are checked out by our local staff at either CCMC or Ilanka they will be driven back to the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department. There will be a BBQ at the Firehall to show appreciation for support by volunteers as they play a very important role in helping our community prepare for an actual event and giving our responders an opportunity to practice their skills in an active training setting.
All helping hands are appreciated!
Folks can register by calling 907 831 1928 or emailing emc@cityofcordova.net or Amy.dundas@alaska.gov.
