Date(s) - 12/06/19
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join in the holiday fun at a new rendition of Cordova Chamber of Commerce’s Hometown Holiday Kick-off on Friday, December 6th, 2019. This year, the event will feature a live tree and take place in front of the Cordova Center on Main Street at 5pm.
Lovers of local holiday tradition will be happy to hear that this year’s event will still feature carols, hot chocolate, an appearance by Santa and a big beautifully decorated tree. Just like last year, this year’s tree will be living and firmly planted in the ground and more centrally-located on Main Street, right between the Cordova Center and Pioneer Igloo.
Usually considered the official beginning of the holiday season in Cordova, the Chamber’s annual Holiday Kick-off and Tree Lighting is also the first night of Moonlight Madness, a festive Chamber program that encourages local residents to Shop Cordova First during the holiday season. Local businesses stay open late every Friday in December to give Cordovans more opportunity to do their holiday shopping in town. The Chamber circulates a list of participating businesses along with details on Moonlight Madness sales, treats and festive activities. This year, the event is going to a new level.
Passport to Fun!
It was such a hit last year, that we have decided to bring back Shop Cordova First Passports which make shopping local even more fun. Throughout the holiday season, you can get a stamp for each local retail purchase you make. Then turn it in to the Chamber by January 1st, and you could win a nice prize! For every $20 worth of local spending in your Passport, you’ll get an entry to win awesome prizes! Shop Cordova First Passports will be distributed at the November Saturday Market, the Holiday Kick-off on December 6th, and at the Bidarki Holiday Bazaar December 6th and 7st.
As always, this event is completely free to the community, supported by local businesses and volunteers, and is brought to you by Cordova Chamber of Commerce. If you would like to donate to support the event or volunteer on December 6th, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 907-424-7260.
